People behavior and creating a destination experience

04:55

People behavior is people behavior.

In general, people do people stuff.

Yes, there's specifics for specific maybe niches.

I like to use the number 70-30 in life for everything.

So, for this conversation, 70% of the people are going to do general 70% behavior and then the 30% would do something different, whatever that different is. For this conversation, I'm just talking about destination.

Destination or what people will do when there's something that they want.

If you have a destination location and people like what you are selling and they appreciate what you're selling, they will come to your location.

They will plan road trips to your location.

They will spend time waiting to get into your location.

That is if you make it something, air quotes, something that they're willing to do that for.

An example would be, I just looked at an online video where this gentleman was going to get some corn. In the video, he was sitting in his car waiting for the corn and then at the end of the video, it took three hours to get the corn.

I looked up the website and on the website of the farm that he was at, the corn ended up costing $8 if you got a dozen and it cost $25 if you I think it was like 50. I think it was like 50, but it was basically a bushel barrel, but a bushel or barrel costs $25. This gentleman got two bushels. He basically spent $50 and he waited in the line for three hours to get his sweet corn.

Again, I'm going to spell it C-O-R-N. At $8 a dozen, the corn comes to about 67 cents a stock. Walmart is selling corn for 50 cents a stock on walmart.com, but this gentleman, because of the way he loves that corn, not only did he spend $.17 (cents) each more, but he sat in a line for three hours to get the corn.

That is people behavior.

That is what people will do for something they care about. They will do that.

So the question that I always bring up is, what can you do in your industry?

What can you do with your business?

What can you do with your product to make it a destination that they go to?

Or if you come to them a destination that I'm calling a destination, but a destination that they will call to have you come to them. What can you do to make people call you and do business with you and your service?

People will do it. That's the human behavior.

They will do the human behavior for destinations like this gentleman sitting in line for three hours in his truck to get $50 worth of corn, three hours to get $50 worth of corn.

We hear about people waiting months to get restaurant reservations.

We hear about people waiting months to get, um, uh, vendors to come and do whatever for them.

We hear about people waiting for months to get houses built, whatever, but people will wait.

So instead of you saying they won't do it for me, you need to be saying, how can I get them to do that behavior for me?

Rico here, ... later.
